The offer for space came from Hawk Air, who will be lending the team the use of one of its hangers to practice in.

We are beyond excited and extremely grateful,” said Tarea Laton about the new location, where she said there is a polished concrete surface, something essential for the sport of roller derby.

Laton said the team will be in its new facility by the first week of October.

The Nightmares had recently expressed concern about how the team was going to continue to practice as winter approached, and its current home, the Terrace Curling Rink, will soon be unavailable as the floors are covered with sheets of ice for the upcoming curling season.

Next for the Nightmares will be a fundraiser at the Terrace Curling rink.

Admission will be free or by donation, and there will be a 50/50 draw, door prizes and a raffle where two tickets from Hawk Air will be given away.

The team will be showing a slideshow of its season, providing a demo of the sport and selling team merchandise.

There will be a bar available at the event, so no minors are allowed.

It’s a good chance for the community to get to know more about us and roller derby in general,” Laton said.
