North Okanagan Youth Soccer Association (NOYSA) hosts 46 teams in the Les Sinnott Memorial Boys Provincial Cup starting Thursday.
Bob Lenarduzzi, president of the Major Soccer League Vancouver Whitecaps, will officially jumpstart the tournament with an address Thursday, 2 p.m. at the VantageOne Indoor Soccer Facility.
Under 13 to under 18 teams begin play Thursday morning with the medal games scheduled for the Sunday.
“We are really looking forward to hosting all of the teams and we’re excited to see some incredible soccer from these talented young players,” said Frank Rennick, NOYSA chairman. “On behalf of NOYSA I would like to acknowledge the support of Nixon Wenger LLP, Natures’ Fare, Westwood Electric, KPMG and Kal Tire as official local partners for this event.”

BC Soccer gave huge props to NOYSA for working with them to bring the 2017 Les Sinnott Memorial B Cup to life.
“I want to congratulate all of the boys teams for making it to the BC Soccer Provincial Championships and wish them good luck in all of their matches,” said Don Dancey, BC Soccer Youth Competitions Chair. “I also want to extend a huge thank you to North Okanagan Youth Soccer Association and to the volunteers who have dedicated hours of work to make these competitions as memorable as possible.”
All players, parents, and fans should keep an eye on BC Soccer’s Instagram account during the provincial cups as social media contests will be held throughout the weekend. Whitecaps FC have supplied the prizes which include Whitecaps tickets, autographed soccer balls and jerseys. “Les Sinnott was a BC Soccer Board Member, Canada Soccer Committee Member and for many years dedicated his time to helping run the BC Soccer Boys Provincial B Cup,” said Don Dancey. “Upon his sudden passing in 2013, BC Soccer voted to rename this BC Soccer Championships the Les Sinnott Memorial Provincial Cup as a small thanks for all that he dedicated to this beautiful game in BC.”
The Les Sinnott Memorial B is run in conjunction with two other youth provincial championships: BC Soccer Provincial A Cup which is being hosted by the Central City Breakers in Surrey and the BC Soccer Girls’ Provincial B Cup which is being hosted by Coastal FC in Surrey.
