The Oak Bay Barbers expect to head into Island Championships ranked fourth after a positive last week of play.
The Oak Bay High senior boy’s volleyball team upset Claremont, ranked third in the province, in the Lower Island Championship 2-1 (25-23, 22-25, 18-16) last Wednesday, Nov. 7. They followed that with a 3-1 win over Lower Island AA champions Lambrick Park in the Judy Bourne Cup.
The Barbers were Lower Island Champions for the 11th time in the last 13 years and Bourne cup winners for the 10th time since 2006.
Oak Bay expects to be ranked third or fourth in province heading into Island Championships Nov 16-17 at Claremont.

Junior boys finish first at Islands
The Oak Bay High junior team also scored top placement at Island Championships last weekend in what coaches call an excellent conclusion to the season. The boys put together their most consistent effort of the season and performed very well, according to coaching staff.
The team defeated Campbell River’s Carihi in the quarterfinals (2-0), and followed that up with a straight set victory over Claremont in the semi-finals.
Oak Bay faced a tough Reynolds team in the final and managed to come away with a spirited victory in the deciding third set.
