The Oceanside Icebreakers Bantam girls team had a cool ending at the annual Icebreakers Female Hockey Tournament at Oceanside Place.

Playing for the bronze medal, the Icebreakers faced a formidable South Delta and the match was a close and exciting battle.

Neither team was able to score in the first two periods. With just 39 seconds left to play, the Icebreakers netted a goal off the stick of Makenna Copley.

South Delta made one last play to get the equalizer when they pulled their goaltender. However, the Icebreakers defence sustained the onslaught and stopped South Delta with an empty-netter scored by A.J. Bishop for Oceanside to claim the bronze medal, 2-0.

The winner of the tournament was another barn-burner, with Cowichan Valley beating Tri-Cities in a shootout.
