A hugely successful season for the junior football Valley Huskers has come to an end with a playoff loss to the Okanagan Sun.
The Huskers were in Kelowna Sunday, facing the BC Football Conference powerhouse at the Apple Bowl.
The Huskers lost 47-21 and finish 2018 with an overall record of 6-5.
Chilliwack’s team did some good things against the heavily-favoured Sun, producing 311 total yards.
Quarterback Julian Wytinck completed 18 of 38 passes for 251 yards, including a touchdown strike to Brandon Poulin.
He also ran for a major.
Unfortunately, the pivot was also intercepted three times, including a pick-six touchdown by Trey Adams.
The Huskers didn’t have a ground game to fall back on, with running back Von Richardson limited to 26 yards on seven carries.
Chilliwack’s other score came on a razzle-dazzle play, with wide receiver Anthony Dyck connecting with Poulin on a 54 yard TD toss.
GW Graham grad Treyvon Walsh had a productive day for the Husker D, producing an interception and a fumble recovery. Dakota Mathers, Remis Tshiovo and Jace Harden also recovered fumbles and the Huskers got quarterback sacks from Dawson Davis (two) and Daniel Mills.
Davis led the D with eight tackles.
The Sun move on to face the Langley Rams in next weekend’s Cullen Cup championship game.
