The Abbotsford Olympians posted a series of sparkling results at the recent Lower Mainland Regional Championships in Richmond.
The meet provided the largest improvement curve for the local swim club so far this year, and among the standouts were Taveleen Grewal, McKenna Postles, Sam Lee and Ryan Han.
Both Grewal and Postles registered four AA qualifying times and earned multiple medals – Grewal won six golds in the 100, 200, 400 and 800 freestyles, the 200 backstroke and 200 individual medley, while Postles took silver in the 200-metre free and the 800m free and bronze in the 400 free.
Lee won five events (50, 100 and 200 fly, 200 free and 200 IM) in club record times, and also posting a new AA qualifying time and picking up a silver in the 50 free.
Han, a recent addition to the Olympians roster from Korea, had an instant impact, setting seven new club records in seven races while qualifying three AA times and winning one gold, two silver and one bronze.
Additional podium finishes came from Tobyn Smith (gold in 50 back, silver in 800 free), Sophia McDonald (gold in 50 breast, silver in 800 free, bronze in 100 fly and 200 IM), Alex Simpson (gold in 100 back) and Ily Tarasenko (bronze in 50m free).
The previous weekend, Olympians swimmer James Lee participated in the AAA championships in Victoria, breaking five club records and posting 100 per cent best times.
