John Muir Elementary students await a compelling afternoon with Olympic Gold Medal rower Adam Kreek on Thursday, March 10 at 1 p.m.
A successful athlete, health and wellness advocate and change agent as well as a member of Motivate Canada’s ESTEEM Team, Kreek will share ideas on goal-setting, leadership and the power youth possess to improve their health and well-being.
Motivate Canada’s Esteem Team includes top-level athletes from all across Canada.
Despite a disappointing loss during the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Kreek persevered and worked even harder to achieve his goal. His dream of winning an Olympic Gold medal for Canada was realized at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he and his eight teammates Andrew Byrnes, Kyle Hamilton, Malcolm Howard, Kevin Light, Ben Rutledge, Dominic Seiterle, Jake Wetzel and Brian Price won the gold medal.
Kreek, 2010 Canadian Sports Awards “Athlete of the Year,” has won over 60 medals during his 13-year career, 27 while competing in international competitions.
“Adam Kreek’s extensive contributions to both sport and Canadian youth are outstanding,” says ESTEEM Team Manger Mark Sluban. “Kreek’s passion for motivating others to improve their health and reach their goals is truly an inspiration,” he adds.
Adam Kreek will share his success eight students at John Muir Elementary, on March 10, 2011, at both 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
