“In 2010, we broke club records in 21 different events and age groups, “Dusan Toth-Szabo said.

“Some were broken multiple times.”

Toth-Szabo said these records were broken by seven different swimmers.

The year saw two swimmers qualify for the Western Canada Championships, two for the nationals and six for provincials, Toth-Szabo said.

At provincials, Maria de Leeuw won a gold medal for the 100 breaststroke.

The Orcas also grew in numbers this year, doubling their membership, he said.

This year’s first swim meet is in Victoria for the Vancouver Island Regional Championships, Jan. 21 to 23.

Results for the 2010 Christmas Cracker Invitational Dec. 10 to 12, Victoria:

Maria De Leeuw, 11, 7th in female 12 and under 50 breast.

Kara DeClark, 16, seventh in female 15 and over 50 back.

Faith Knelson, 9, was one of the best in her age group.

Cody Short, 17, first in male senior 100 breast and first in male senior 200 breast.
