The Bulkley Valley Otters hosted the Spring Wavemaker swim meet last weekend, with teams from Prince Rupert, Kitimat, Terrace and Houston joining the races at the Bulkley Valley Regional Pool.
Otters head coach Ali Howard said the Otters performed well, despite being tired from AAA Provincials the previous week, although numbers were slightly higher at the meet.
“We had some kids who normally don’t compete who did well, so that was good,” said Howard.
In overall team competition, the Otters were a painful nine points away from the top spot, which was won by the Terrace Bluebacks. In individual age groups, however, the team did very well.
In 11-12 girls, Cassandra Horning-Wandler took third place, with teammate Amy Fowler in fourth. In the 11-12 boys division, Tanner Esperson finished in first place, with Luke Berarducci in second. Gabrielle Corriea took the top spot in the 13-14 girls. In the 15 and Over boys division, Brett Zollen finished in first, while Brian Dohler took third and Nathan Hartnett finished in fourth.
