Outlaws drop opening game of Cyclone Taylor Cup

Mission plays hard, but can't muster enough offence in hard fought game.

The Mission Outlaws fell 2-1 to the Kimberley Dynamiters in their opening game of the Cyclone Taylor Cup on Friday night.

The local squad, which is hosting the four-team, round-robin provincial junior B hockey championships, had plenty of chances to score, but only got one goal when Brendan Jay found the back of the net.

Mission is now 0-1 in the tournament heading into tomorrow night’s game against the North Vancouver Wolf Pack. The contest will be a rematch of the Pacific Junior Hockey League championship playoff, which Mission lost four games to two.

The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. in the Mission Leisure Centre.

In earlier action on Friday, the Campbell River Storm defeated the Wolf Pack 6-3.
