After surrendering a pair of early touchdowns to fall behind 12-0, the Langley Outlaws stiffened defensively and the offence scored two second-half touchdowns to defeat the Coquitlam Roughriders 16-12.
The junior bantam football teams were playing on Saturday night (Oct. 12) under the lights at Coquitlam’s Town Centre Stadium.
The Roughriders led 12-0 at the break but the Outlaws came up with some crucial half-time adjustments as both Adam Rodenstein and Connor Desnoyers each rushed in for a touchdown. Stryker Roloff was able to successfully convert both scores giving Langley a 16-12 advantage they would not relinquish.
Defensively, the team was led by Joe Nickel (six tackles) and Nick McCrory (four tackles) with both players also delivering a quarterback sack. Nickel also blocked one punt, which Roloff recovered, and also recovered a punt blocked by Jacob Jelic.
Roloff, who also came on in relief at quarterback, also got his team out of trouble with his punting down the field.
