Third-ranked KSS beats Winston Churchill to take bronze at the provincial 4A boys basketball finals in Langley

In the end, only the B.C. champion Yale Lions stood between the Kelowna Owls and a B.C. championship.

On Saturday at the Langley Events Centre, the third-ranked Owls defeated Sir Winston Churchill 100-79 to capture the bronze medal at the provincial 4A boys high school basketball finals.

KSS won three of four games at provincials, their only loss being a tight 84-79 setback in the semifinals against second-ranked Yale. The Lions went on to beat Terry Fox in the gold medal game.

Parker Simson and Grant Shephard of the Owls were named to the tournament’s all-star team.

Earlier in the season, KSS won the Western Canada Basketball Tournament for the first time in 33 years.
