A pair of Yale Secondary students will be continuing their volleyball journey close to home.
The Columbia Bible College Bearcats women’s volleyball team announced the additions of Sophie Michael and Eden Baerg earlier this week, and the pair will debut in the Pacwest later this year.
Michael, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter, also played club volleyball in the past with Elevate.
“Sophie has tremendous offensive upside,” CBC officials stated. “At the club level, she’s demonstrated what an excellent outside hitter she is. When Sophie gets ahold of a ball, she can truly rip it. With an infectious personality Sophie is a leader who cares for her teammates. We are excited to see Sophie reach her full potential as she joins Bearcats Athletics to compete at the next level.”
Baerg, a 5-foot-10 middle, played club volleyball for Elevate and also participated in the Junior Cascades program.
“Eden has excellent potential for the varsity level with great base skills,” CBC officials stated. “She is very analytical of the game and always eager to learn. Eden is a go-getter who is always asking questions and wanting to learn. A great teammate and team player we are excited to have Eden join Bearcats Athletics for Fall 2020.”
The Yale Lions finished in fifth place in the Eastern Valley Athletic Association’s 4A senior girls standings with a record of 4-5 and failed to qualify for the provincials.
The CBC Bearcats women’s volleyball team finished with a record of 2-22 in Pacwest competition last year and failed to qualify for the playoffs.
