Competing in his best event, Chilliwack’s Zachary Clay finished sixth in the pommel horse final at the 2019 Pan American Games in Peru.
The eight-man final round was held Tuesday at the Villa El Salvador Sport Center.
Clay posted scores of 4.900 for difficulty and 7.466 for execution.
His combined score of 12.366 tied him with Canadian teammate Justin Karstadt.
But he was well short of the winning score of 13.533 posted by Brazilian gymnast Francisco Carlos Baretto.
Clay also competed on the rings in an earlier qualifier round, but didn’t make it through to the final.
