Pee Wee Knights start strong

The North Okanagan Knights jumpstart Pee Wee Tier 3 hockey tournament in Salmon Arm with an 8-0 over West Kelowna Rockets.

The North Okanagan Knights jumpstarted a Pee Wee Tier 3 hockey tournament in Salmon Arm with an 8-0 thumping of the West Kelowna Rockets Friday afternoon.

Following a tightly played opening period, Wesley Graves finally scored in the second on a feed from Brett Zbytnuik. A minute later, Kord Haller buried the rebound from an Alex Gilowski shot. Eli Dwyer, assisted by Graves and Bryan Brew, made it 3-0 after 40 minutes.

The Knights pressed for more in the final frame, with Griffin Evans blasting one in from the blueline. Haller, Graves, Dwyer and Brew all scored later in the frame. Assists went to Kevin Thomas Walters and Dylan Huber.

Caedon Bellmann recorded the win.

Meanwhile, Nick Mitchell scored five times and linemate Sean Howard added four snipes as the Corbett Office Plus Sharks gonged the Interior Savings Credit Union Giants 12-5 in exhibition Bantam Super League action Friday night at Civic Arena.

Seb Wenger, Brandon Lehoux and Riley Bos supplied singles for the Sharks, who got two assists and a stellar two-way showing from defenceman Jake Pelletier.

Brogan Houston pulled the hat trick for the Giants, singles going to Ryan Lazar and Jed Halvorson. The Sharks enjoyed period leads of 5-3 and 9-3 with Tyler Riva and Rhys Larsen sharing net duties.
