The pee wee Lakers also had a successful weekend, slipping past Cowichan Valley 4 by a score of 7-3 this past Saturday on home ice.
The pee wee Lakers are now 2-1 on the Mid-Island Hockey League Season.
Lakers head coach, Greg Clayton was overly impressed his team’s showing this past weekend.
“We had a really strong game. It was really apparent on how good the teamwork was on the assists and goals that were generated. It was very pleasing to see how well they played as a team and utilizing plays they’ve learned for the first time this year. It definitely helped in the success of the game,” said Clayton.
He was adamant his last line of defence, in Dylan Svendsen stole the show for the pee wee Lakers.
“He played a really great game,” said Clayton.
Clayton also remarked that the line of Nelson Wagner, Devin Johel and Katie Ferguson were major pieces of the puzzle in the Lakers victory on Saturday.
“They were very instrumental in creating offensive play and several goals in the game,” he added.
The pee wee Lakers host Cowichan Valley 3 this coming Saturday, Nov. 12 at 9:30 a.m. at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena.
