The Grand Forks Bruins Pee Wee Hockey team capped off a banner season on the weekend by winning the West Kootenay championship.

The Bruins went into the playoffs in first place and had a bye for their first game, won their first game over 3rd seeding Nakusp in Midway by the score of 3-2. In their second game, the squad went up against Castlegar (4th place team) winning 4-3 in Grand Forks.

The semi-finals were Sunday morning in Midway.  The Bruins first game was a rematch with Castlegar – GF beat them 4-2 setting up a final game Sunday afternoon in Midway against Nakusp. Grand Forks beat them 4-3 in a very exciting game. The teams were tied after three periods and a five-minute overtime forcing a shootout. GF won the title in the shootout with eight players on each time shooting!  The team will get to skate around to show off their banner at Wednesday’s Bruins game between the first and second periods.
