Peete rink wins Butterfly Bonspiel

For the second consecutive year, a team skipped by Creston's Scott Peete has won the Butterfly Bonspiel.

For the second consecutive year, a team skipped by Creston’s Scott Peete has won the Butterfly Bonspiel.

Fifty-six teams participated, an increase from the traditional 48, tournament organizer Vern Ronmark said on Monday.

“We believe that there will be enough interest to have 56 teams again next year for the 75th Butterfly Bonspiel,” he said.

Peete’s team, which won the Interior Brewery Workers Union trophy, included Kevin Hedlund (third), Doug Thompson (second) and Bryan Smithson (lead).

The $500 draw to the button, Sponsored by the Cavell Street Dental Clinic, was won by the Vern Ronmark Team, with Ronmark throwing the winning rock.

The B event, sponsored by Western Financial Group, was won by Chris Medford’s team, with Steve Tersmette (third), Jeff Langin (second) and Nick Geweitz (lead).

The Greg Terrill rink won the Creston & District Credit Union trophy, and included Steve Rejman, Michael Joy and Brad Christenson.

The Nufloors trophy for the D event winners went to Brent Pihowich, Al May, Lanny Labelle and Jason Flexhaug.

E event winners Devo Devine, Russ Beauchamp, Wes Meger and Bill Clark were winners of the Casey’s Community House trophy.

Harry Haberstock, Ron Toyota, Leo Sleik and Jim Elford earned the JC’s Self Storage trophy for coming out on top in the F Event.

Creston Valley Advance
