Oceanside’s Peewee Rep Generals were in Comox (Jan. 3–5) for a five-team tournament that saw them skate their way to silver.

Following an exhibition win at home, the Rep Generals headed to the Glacier Gardens in Comox and wound up winning four games and losing two in round robin play. The Gens battled against Campbell River for the right to face Sooke in the final. The game went to a shoot out and saw the Rep Generals win it in the seventh round.

In the final against Sooke, the teams played to a 4–4 tie in regulation and needed extra frames. Neither side could win it in overtime though, so it was off to a shootout once again for the peewee squad from Oceanside.

It took eight rounds of action to see Sooke come away with the win and the gold medal.

“Really, really exciting games,” one of the Gen’s parents said.

The silver medal comes at a good time as the Peewee Rep season winds to a close. The playoffs are scheduled for the end of January and the Oceanside team  will be looking for gold to cap off their excellent season.
