Chilliwack’s peewee football Giants met British Columbia premier Gordon Campbell on Monday, with Campbell taking time to recognize the team’s  2010 BCCFA Provincial Championship. The Giants presented the Premier with a game ball signed by the entire team, leading the Premier to recall his own experiences in peewee football in 1960. All of the players had an opportunity to shake hands and meet the Premier, and get their photos taken with him. Campbell noted that he had met with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper earlier that day and that Harper had extended his congratulations as well. The meet and greet with the Premier, along with a final team dinner in Vancouver, wrapped up a dream season for the Giants. The team entered the playoffs as an underdog after a 7-3 regular season, but won four straight to earn the title. The Giants travelled to Nebraska last summer, and played at Empire Field during halftime of a B.C. Lions game. They played before a Seattle Seahawks game at Qwest Field. “Its a great conclusion to an amazing season,” said offensive coach Andy Uzick, “the kids will never forget this season.”
