Terrace’s Peewee girls team triumphed down south with a tournament win Feb. 4th to 6th in Penticton.
The team played five games over the weekend and won every one of them.
The girls got off to a strong start, opening up game one with a 23-1 win over the Kelowna Penguins.
The next match was a shutout over the Kelowna Hotshots, 7 – 0.
Game three was a 6-1 victory over the Penticton Vees, and game four was another win against the Hotshots, with the same result of 7-0.
The final game for the tournament win was against the Kamloops Blazers.
After 60 shots at the Kamloops goaltender, the Terrace Peewee girls took the game 3-0.
According to Kevin Kennedy, one of three coaches for the team, they went into the tournament worried about how they were going to perform against such large communities.
“We had a different idea of the level of competition there,” he said, adding the team ended up dominating from start to finish.
