Peewee golfer finishes third at Jasper

In two rounds of competition, Tyson Dyck scored 82 and 84.

Tyson Dyck, 11, of Abbotsford finished tied for third in the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) peewee division golf tournament at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in Alberta last week.

In two rounds of competition, the young golfer scored 82 and 84, finishing 16 strokes behind tournament champion Thomas Sluka of Canmore, Alta., who blew away the rest of the field with a two-day score of 150.

Dyck finished just one stroke behind second-place golfer Tate Bonertz of Calgary and tied with Brady Brenner, also of Calgary.

Dyck, who golfs out of Ledgeview Golf & Country Club, notched five birdies through the tournmament and also claimed the Sligo Closest-to-the-Pin Competition in his age category.

Braden Chenier of Mission also took part in the peewee division, taking fifth-place with a two-day score of 184.

Jasper Park Lodge is ranked as Canada’s number one resort golf course and is a par-71.

The MJT is Canada’s most-played major junior golf tour operated exclusively by the PGA of Canada Golf Professionals as a non-profit.
