The Campbell River Ravens Peewee B lacrosse team rocked Victoria last weekend at the Captain Cook Tournament May 11-13.
The boys brought home the gold medal in a tournament that saw the Ravens explode offensively.
Game one on Friday versus the Westshore Whalers 1 saw the Ravens ride to a 4-2 victory, with Raven Quin Nelson picking up the MVP honours.
The following day the Ravens went head-to-head with Esquimalt, knocking off their opponent in a lopsided 7-2 victory. Raven Kaleb Vivier was the game MVP.
Later that same day, the Ravens took on the Saanich Tigers, winning 4-1. Mason Osterhout-Code took the MVP honours.
On Sunday, the final game of the tournament, the Ravens played an exhibition game against the Saanich Tigers and won by a whopping 16-2.
The game was a warm-up for the championship game that took place that afternoon.
The Ravens found themselves in a nail biter against Peninsula.
With the Ravens up 6-5 and with 33.2 second left in the game, Peninsula called a time out. With its goalie sitting on the bench for the extra attacker, Peninsula took three quick shots on goal…with no luck.
The Ravens’ Nelson launched the ball to the other end of the court and ran out the clock, giving the Ravens the victory and the gold medal. Game MVP was Rylan Fisher.
Up next for the peewee B Ravens is a home game versus Vic Esquimalt on Saturday at 11 a.m.
