A hockey tournament in Lillooet on the weekend had a silver lining for 100 Mile Sunrise Ford Peewee Reps.
The squad, which had been struggling prior to the event, placed second in the eight-team tournament, winning all three of its round-robin games before losing to an undefeated Langley team in the final.
Goalie Aidan Harding covered the 100 Mile net for the entire weekend, scoring a 5-0 shutout over host team in the first game of the tournament.
In the same game, Emmett Collins got a hat trick and Cooper Uphill and Brandan Moore contributed a goal apiece.
Game 2 saw 100 Mile take Kelowna 7-3, with Collins and Brandon Balbirnie each netting a couple of goals and Dylan McNeil, Caitlyn Ray and Moore scoring one each.
A spirited and penalty-plagued third game with Kamloops resulted in a 5-3 victory for 100 Mile House. Collins scored twice and Ray, Moore and Reid Davidson were credited with one apiece.
100 Mile met their match with Langley in the final, however, losing 9-3 to the decidedly stronger team. McNeil was responsible for two of the 100 Mile goals and Collins scored the other.
Team spokesperson Mike Davidson says the tournament was a good confidence-booster for his players who have had a tough time finding wins this year.
“They played a good team game with strong forechecking and supported each other well on the ice.”
The squad heads off to Princeton on Jan. 28-30 for a Tier 3 tournament.
