Peewees in provincials

Oceanside team is looking to continue with impressive season

The Oceanside Peewee Generals are gearing up for their provincial championships, looking to improve on the stellar season they’ve had so far.

Managing a second-place finish with a record of eight wins, three losses and two ties, the rep squad that is Tier 2 associated has been playing at the Tier 1 level.

Overall, they’ve compiled a record of 31 wins, six losses and two ties on their season, which includes tournament play, with a gold medal effort at a tournament in Port Alberni earlier this season.

The team has also captured bronze twice in Coquitlam and Comox.

“These young boys have had a phenomenal season,” assistant coach Greg Knight said.

“Playing at the Tier 1 level as a Tier 2 team, they’ve done very well and now we’re getting ready for a run at the B.C. championship.”

Currently sitting with two wins in the four-game round robin portion of qualifying, the Peewee Generals’ next game comes at home on Sunday, February 7, with puck drop slated for noon.
