One of the two men’s soccer teams from Surrey competing in the Provincial Cup has been eliminated in the first round.
Newton-based Pegasus FC, the Imperial Cup champions this past season in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League, was eliminated from the 16-team tournament last Friday. Pegasus lost 1-0 to Club Inter at Newton Athletic Park.
Rovers Tigers United advanced to the quarterfinal round with a 2-0 victory Friday night over Croatia SC in Burnaby. Rovers Tigers, also members of the VMSL, will visit Langley United of the Fraser Valley Soccer League in a quarterfinal game tomorrow (Friday) at 8:30 p.m.
The eight-team women’s Provincial Cup playoff begins Sunday, with Surrey United kicking off against Metro Women’s Soccer League rival Richmond FC at noon at Cloverdale Athletic Park.
