With only a single blemish on their regular season record so far, the Penticton Power U12 girls fastpitch team are having a remarkable run.
The Power’s only league play loss came at the beginning of the season, and since then they have brought home medals in two competitive tournaments. The first was a silver in a Kamloops tournament then they ran away with gold at the Kelowna Spring Sizzle tournament, where they went undefeated.
“We are having a great season so far. We have only lost one regular season game and only have two more games remaining this year,” said Power coach Kenna Green.
The medal performance at the Kelowna tournament gives the U12 squad the first gold for their age group in Penticton in a long time.
“Honestly, I think it is their attitude. This is a great group of girls that never get down on themselves, they work together as a team and everyone contributes. Even if the team is behind in a game they are cheering, singing and are very upbeat. They are really coachable kids.”
The Power are hosting the U12 C regionals June 22 to 24 and will compete with 14 teams from their Okanagan division, the Kootenays and as far away as Prince George.
