Pinnacles FC is launching a fall recreational league.
Action is scheduled to hit the pitch at Kings Park on Sept. 9 and goes until Oct. 28. Matt Woods, PFC recreational head coach/administrator would like to see four teams in each age and gender division for a total of 32 squads.
“It is designed to be fun. You train whatever day of the week you want, and then you play on the Saturdays,” said Woods. “It’s really, really relaxed and fun and engaging. It’s a brand new project that we really want to see take off and become a big part of the soccer culture here in Penticton.”
Woods has been developing fall and winter programs in Oliver and Osoyoos over the last couple of years. He is motivated to create the league, which he said exists in larger centres such as Kelowna. His goal is to get a league going year-round and this is the first step.
Registration for this league is done by team and through its coach. So far 15 teams have signed up. Woods said in registering by team, players can stay together with the groups they played with in the spring.
Woods is seeking teams from U7/8 to U13/15. Woods encourages players to contact coaches to submit a roster which can be brought to the Pinnacles FC office or send it by email toclubleague@pinnaclesfc.com.
