Pitchers gathered in the horseshoes club last weekend for the Quesnel Open.
Vic Vallee of P.G. stood on top in the men’s class ‘A’ with an unmarred record of three wins. Mike Cunningham, also of P.G., and Joe Brietkopf of Abbortsford, were caught in a second/third tie, both with three wins and a pair of losses.
Prince George’s Ida Boschman won the women’s class ‘A’ with two wins and a loss, followed by Quesnel’s Helene Boudreau with the opposite record.
Boschman went on to take first in the mixed ‘A’.
Vallee also dominated the men’s ‘B’ class, with six wins and nary a loss. Cunningham once again came in second to Vallee, losing two of his six games, and Phil Erickson rounded out the top three with a pair of wins and four losses.
Jeanette Ferrara took the top place in the women’s class ‘B’ with four wins, followed by Helene Boudreau.
Boschman took first in the Mixed ‘A’, the senior’s mixed and the senior ladies and men mixed. Helene Boudreau took second with two wins and an equal amount off losses in the senior ladies and men mixed.
Vallee once again found victory in the senior men’s 40 foot, though not as handily as his other victories as he was forced into a playoff for the top spot. Erickson came in second with five wins and a couple of losses. Cunningham came in third with a four win, two loss record.
Marcel Pinette took first in the senior men’s 30 foot.
Ferrara took first in the women’s ‘C’ class, followed by Boudreau in second.
Erickson found his way to first in the men’s ‘C’ class with five wins and a single loss, though he had to win a playoff to get there. Herb Boschman of Prince George took second with two losses in his six games. Cunningham and Brietkopf tied for second/third, each with three wins and a pair of losses.
Harold Noakes took first in the men’s ‘E’ class.
