Pitt, Ridge teams advance in Coastal Cup play-offs

Coastal Cup playoffs got underway April 2 and 3, with a number of local teams advancing to the quarterfinals this weekend.

In the girls’ A Metro Women’s Soccer League play-offs, the Golden Ears United defeated the Royal City Reign 2-1 to advance to the U-14 quarterfinals, and will face the Surrey Selects this Sunday in Surrey.

The Pitt Meadows Xtreme fell 1-0 to the Richmond Synergy in the opening round of the U-15 play-offs, while Golden Ears Gunners were out-gunned 3-1 by the North Shore Adrenaline.

In girls’ B Coastal League play, the U-13 Golden Ears Vipers trounced the West Vancouver Strikers 4-0, and will face the Surrey Youth Fireballs this Sunday at Samuel Robertson Technical Secondary School.

In U-18 action, the Pitt Meadows Breakers were edged by the Delta Dynamite 4-3, while the Golden Ears Extreme were blanked 5-0 by the West Vancouver Gunners.

In boys’ A action, the North Fraser Selects lost 3-0 to Surrey Guildford United in U-16 play, while the U-14 North Fraser squad lost 3-1 to Vancouver FC.

In the 5 District play-offs, the U-17 Pitt Meadows United took a bye in the first round and will face the Lakehill Emery Electric this Sunday at home at Pitt Meadows Secondary School. The U-15 Pitt United team had no such luck, however, and went down in defeat to the Chilliwack Attack 1-0 to end their Coastal Cup run.
