Politicians golf with ladies

MP Cathy McLeod and Senator Nancy Greene Raine played a round of golf with the ladies

The full moon was long gone but anyone coming by the Chinook Cove golf course around 8 p.m. on Tuesday Aug. 11, would think that something was affecting the ladies.

We are often a bit wild and woolly but we really outdid ourselves this week.  Of course laughter is infectious and I think everyone caught the bug.

We had a couple of special guests – MP Cathy McLeod and Senator Nancy Greene Raine played a round of golf with us and stayed for supper.

To be perfectly fair and non-partisan we are quite willing to have other politicians join us as long as they are wearing a skirt when they do so.

Brenda Oakland had an good night picking up a number of prizes.  She scored an excellent 42 to win low gross in Flight 1 (Hub Internaional), had a long drive on Hole 1 (AG Foods), a long drive on Hole 2 (Barriere Timber Mart) and split the birdie pot with Carol Hindle and Val Williams.

Trudy Forsythe also did well by taking low net prize for Flight 1.  She also had a KP on Hole 4 (EBL Ventures) and won the Interior Savings Credit Union prize for least number of putts.  In Flight 2 Babes Shanko won low gross (Campbell & Co.) with a score of 49 while Jeannie Webber took low net with a 50 (31).  Stamer Logging sponsored Flight 3 with low gross winner Gwen Travers (54) and second low gross winner Val Williams (55).  Gwen also had a long putt on Hole 5 (Knights Inn) and a long drive on Hole 9 (Val Bella Studios).

Cindy Leibel picked up two prizes with a long putt on Hole 3 (Country Store Antiques) and a long drive on Hole 9 (Sam’s Pizza).

A number of ladies won single prizes.  Carol Willox had a long drive on Hole 1 to win the Armour Mountain Office Services while Stacey Gartner won the Barriere A&W prize for long drive on the same hole.  Long putt prizes on Hole 2 went to Audrey Rilcoe (Barriere Massage) and Brenda Carl (Crystlee’s Hair Design).  KPs on Hole 4 were won by Chris LeCerf (Bondar Forest Planning) and Marie Hakes (Carl’s Market Garden).  Betty Foote had a long putt on Hole 5 to win the Estylo Hair Design certificate.  Val Williams won the Pottery by Ramona prize for KP in 2 on Hole 7 while on Hole 8 Leslie Stirling won the Rainer Custom Cutting prize for long putt.  Irene Beeton had a long drive on Hole 9 to win the Val Bella Studio prize.  Val Aylward won the prize for most putts (Interior Savings Credit Union).

The summer is certainly rushing by.  You only have four more weeks to enjoy the fantastic Tuesday night company.  Hope to see you soon.
