The two-time defending Gibson Cup champion North Enderby Timber opened the 2014 season by lassoing the pesky Salmon Arm Outlaws 5-1 Wednesday night at Marshall Field #2.
Brent Poulsen supplied two goals early in the first half to put the Timber ahead in the North Okanagan Soccer League opener for both teams.
Bryndon Buckham converted on a left-footed howitzer, top shelf, from well outside the 18, capping the first-half NET attack.
Ross MacDonald and Devin Janke added insurance goals in the second half.
In other play, Salmon Arm Courvas ambushed Monashee Surveying FC 5-0 at Marshall #1.
Monashee came out with a full squad after combining with the now defunct Davidson Riot, and showed some promise as they greeted their new teammates.
Courvas started with nine runners and gained their regular keeper just minutes into the match.
Courvas took advantage of some early Monashee miscues and finished the night with a successful penalty kick.
The Turn-Key Controls-National of Domination Eagle Homes game was postponed.
