Pra Loup on my mind

Don't worry, I'd never heard of it either until just a few days ago.

Don’t worry, I’d never heard of it either until just a few days ago.

My old DH race buddy called me to say he is going to Pra Loup next August for three weeks. I said “Pra What?”

He then explained that the veteran World Cup DH races are being held there in August of 2020 and he thinks I should go. I tried explaining that I am most likely too busy, too broke, and too retired from racing to even consider it, but he seems to think I should go anyway. I finally got him off the phone and then received a text with exact dates and details for the race week. Graham can be persistent. So, I went back to work and forgot about it. Later that night something unexpected shot out of my mouth when I asked Chenoa if she wanted to go to France next year. After a few minutes, I had explained a trip that was completely out of my reality. A few days have passed now and I can’t get it out of my head. I am 99.9 per cent sure I will never be able to make this happen, but it keeps floating around as an idea.

I had to have a chat with myself and lay down the law. No more thinking about France when there is so much going on in life. Then I ordered new wheels and brakes for my DH bike, to make it lighter and faster…you know, just in case. I’d hate for the impossible to happen and I be unprepared.

I’m James Durand and I’m Goin’ Dreamin’…
