Princeton Secondary School’s senior girls basketball team made their mark against the Princess Margaret Secondary Mustangs, defeating them 67-36 at a home game on Jan. 27.
Early foul trouble in the first quarter left the Rebels trailing behind the Mustangs, with a 14-11 score leading into the second quarter.
But Princeton picked it up halfway through the second quarter, meeting the Mustangs at 23-20.The Rebels made an aggressive comeback during the last minutes of the second, with sharp, crisp passes.
They achieved a 36-22 lead going into the half.
Halfway through the third period, the Rebels showed they were ready to win, with a 42-26 lead over the Mustangs. By the end of the game, Princeton has almost doubled their opponents baskets, ending the game 67-36.
The game opened an eight-team tournament that saw the Rebels come in second after defeating Keremeos and losing to Oliver.
The team also finished second at a tournament in Ashcroft on Jan. 15, losing in the finals to Cedars Christian School from Prince George.
They are currently ranked No. 2 in B.C., while Princeton is ranked No. 8.
