Pub Run Club offered fun way to run and walk

Lots of opportunities for runners and walkers year round in Quesnel

Pub Run Club participants went on their final run/walk of the fall session last month.

This fall, Reason 2 Run and the Cariboo Hotel partnered to offer the six-week Pub Run Club, a fun road running group that met every Wednesday from Sept. 13 to Oct. 18 at Reason 2 Run and then ran or walked in Quesnel for about an hour before ending at the Cariboo Hotel.

Reason 2 Run owner Candace Miller says 50 people signed up for the fall group, and they probably averaged about 30 people each week.

This was the second time the running store and pub partnered following a spring Pub Run Club, which Miller says attracted the same number of people.

“For this group, it’s a social thing, that is different than other [running] groups. For a lot of people, it was an opportunity to still be active and get out and do something with their friends, and for other people, it’s a chance to meet people.

“The biggest thing is to get people out.”

While the Pub Run Club is over for the season, Reason 2 Run’s spring trail running group will continue to meet Monday nights until Nov. 6.

Next up is the store’s Walk/Run for Good Cheer, which will start Dec. 6.

For the first three Wednesdays in December, runners and walkers can meet at the store at 5:30 p.m., bring a donation item for Good Cheer, which provides Christmas hampers in the community, and then run or walk for about an hour.
