Qualicum Beach’s Brayden Eriksen is off to a strong start in his first tournament on the Gecko Golf Tour in Spain.
Competing in the first of six tournaments through the next six weeks, Eriksen sits at five under through two rounds, making the cut and sitting five shots off the lead heading into the final day of play.
Eriksen was the opening day leader for the tournament, firing a round of 68 (-4). He was one under on the second day,, shooting 71.
With 71 golfers in the field, Eriksen finished in the top 20 through the first two days of the tournament, making the cut for the final round and guaranteeing himself a finish in the money in his very first tournament on the Gecko Tour.
“It’s been good so far,” Eriksen said from his residence in Spain. “It’s a nice way to start off the Gecko Tour and the first tournament of the season for sure.”
“I’ve still got one more round to play, so I’m hoping to have another solid round like the first two and finish well.”
