Under sunny skies, the Qualicum Beach Lawn Bowling Club held a succesful open house.
The two-day event drew more than 30 people who were given the opportunity to try out lawn bowling. Members served as coaches throughout the open house, April 21-22, showing those who want to learn the game the basics of the sport.
“I played indoor lawn bowling and some of the members asked me to try outdoor lawn bowling,” said John Hylton-Foster.
“So I am trying it out and it’s slightly different playing on green grass. But I like it. It’s great to be outside playing especially when it’s sunny like this. I plan to sign up.”
Another visitor was Glenys Hewitt, who came to the open house because her friend wanted to try out. Hewitt went on to roll a few bowl and liked it.
“If you start out this way, there’s only one way to go,” Hewitt quipped.
At the end of the two-day open house, the club had 25 people sign up for lessons.
