The Qualicum Beach Lawn Bowling Club’s Open Triples tournament was a great success, despite the weather.
Played out in QB last weekend, there were 32 teams participating in the tourney, sponsored by Qualicum Foods, with teams coming from Courtenay, Parksville, Port Alberni and Nanaimo and the host club.
“The North Island clubs have some very competitive teams and many travel from club to club to compete in these tournaments,” QBLBC’s Jane Nielsen said after, adding “our Qualicum teams, although not the top finishers, did put up a good showing. Congratulations to all the participants on a great tournament.”

• “B” Division winners were Leone King, Carol Chapman & Ruth Brodie (Qualicum)
Mens “A”
• 2nd – Jimmy Mueller, Peter MacLachlan, Ed (Nanaimo )
• 3rd – Rick Dolley team (PV)
• “B” Division (2nd) – John Wilson, Doug Ives & George Machin (Qualicum)
• “C” Division winners – Dave Childs, Ken Welwood & Charles Macintyre (Qualicum).
