The Quesnel River Archers hosted the Goldpan 1200 competition at the Barlow Creek hall last weekend and stole the show.

“It’s pretty much what I expected,” coach with the Quesnel River Archers Dale Chapplow said matter-of-factly.

In all, 38 archers from Prince George, Vanderhoof and Quesnel took part in the challenge, 25 of which were from Quesnel.

Notable performances included that of Sydney Watson who once again came within a whisker of breaking another Canadian record.

This time Watson missed the mark by a measely six points.

Nonetheless, Watson’s effort was good enough to give her first place in the cadet compound bow competition.

Scott Watson, Sydney’s father, took third place in the senior mens compound bow comptition.

Overall Quesnel archers collected 11 first-place finishes, three second place finishes and four third-place finishes.

The Schaefer family collected three top finishes.

Son Jonathan took first place in the senior mens compound bow, while mom Cathy took first place in the womens master bowhunter unlimited category and father, Wayne, took first place in the mens masters bowhunter unlimited competition.
