A highly entertaining contest between Serenity and BCS saw most go home happy, as the four-all draw cements the Builders’ first-place claim and provides warning to all that BCS is ready to rumble in the upcoming Lumber Cup Playoffs.
The first 10 minutes of the game saw BCS play rope-a-dope as Serenity stormed the ramparts time-after-time.
Richard Ward “Off Evil” didn’t blink in the BCS cage.
The Builders did strike first blood when Shelby “Cobra” Ballentyne scored a garbage goal from in tight.
That seemed to wake up the slumbering Black Clad boys, as Rob “Sparky” Courturier ladled one in soon after.
The next three tallies by BCS were hard to watch, as Gord “Big Daddy” Salmons beat Josh “Little Sprout” Salmons on a rebound, a deft deflection and a Hail Mary for the hat trick.
The last goal tied the contest at four, as a pair of dazzlers by Cam “Shaft” Graham sandwiched the first goal of the season by “Celly” Nate Strand who high-fived and chest bumped like it was a Game Seven OT winner.
The shootout saw more of the same, as “Shaft” and “Big Daddy” beat the opposition ‘tenders like rented mules to preserve the sister kisser.
The game in the Roo Rink turned out to be a track meet, as the Fraser River sprinters outdistanced the Bear runners by a 7-4 margin.
Exploding out of the blocks for four gorgeous goals was Levon “Young Gun” Johnson, who pushed his total to an outrageous 51 for the season.
Also finding the scoresheet for the high-scoring Chevy Crew were Dave “Kim” Carnes, who equalled his season output with a pair, and Ian “Heartbreaker” Hannah, who notched the insurance goal.
Bear relied heavily on their go-to guys, as Jason “Fireworks” Forman collected a hat trick and also assisted on Wade Price “Is Right’s” 10th of the campaign.
This week’s results finalize the playoff seedings, which mean sa rematch of this week’s games will be featured when the FHL goes primetime for the 25th Lumber Cup March 26-29 in the West Fraser Centre!
