The Young Turks have all the answers, as Serenity edges BCS in a 7-6 shootout win.
The Numero Uno for the Builders is ironically their nemesis from last year’s Lumber Cup final, and there’s no doubt that Darby “Pickle” Madill’s switch from referee to forward was the right call, as he scored four and added a shootout marker for good measure.
Getting used to playing second fiddle is Levon “Young Gun” Johnson, who scored an unassisted beauty, notched an apple and sniped the shootout clincher.
Meanwhile in the Fraser River showroom, the two Kevins and a Glen were the shiny models, as Kevin “Dineen” Pethick and Kevin “Nightrider” Hesselgrave combined for three goals and two assists, while Glen “Boom Boom” Boudreau concocted a pair.
The other contest was a lung buster for Bear, as they had to do most of it with a magnificent seven skaters, who were full value in the 7-2 win over BCS.
Leading the way for Bear was the latest FHL sexagenarian, as Randy “Killer” Crofts scored a pair of top-shelf gorgeous goals in a row.
Also finding the twine (and occasionally their breath) was “Oh” Henry Boal with a singleton; Ian “Heartbreaker” Hannah, who ripped in a trick; and Colin “Clutch” Keis, who tapped one in to go with his pair of assists.
Chris “Crown” Royle and “Mighty” Quinn Miller rounded out the scoring for Bear, as they volunteered to play a full 60 on D and also earned an apple each.
The lone skaters for the Dirty Dozen who showed up for BCS to earn a paycheque was Fouad “Dr. Dread” Obied and Dave “Kim” Carnes, who both registered their second of the season.
