A wonderful time was had by all at the Ladies Best Ball Tournament last weekend (Aug 18-19).
Twenty-five pairs from Quesnel, Williams Lake, Prince George, Mackenzie and Houston took part in the two-day event at the Quesnel Golf Club.
Local club members Rickey Deis and Tiffany Campbell won the Low Gross Champions title in what was an exciting two-hole playoff against Karin Brink and Trina Halfnights.
Both pairs had scores of 166 going into the showdown.
The winners will have the honour of being the first to have their names on the new Nita Lane Trophy.
Shirley Halliday and Wanda Grinder from Aberdeen Glen Golf Club in Prince George were the Low Net Champions, and will have their names on the Barb Smith/Marj Jefferson Trophy.

“I think we are having one of our best days as far as Mother Nature goes,” says Kit Collins, tournament chair for the event.
“This is our first year as the Quesnel Ladies Best Ball Tournament as we’ve taken over from the Barb Smith/Marj Jefferson Tournament.
“We are playing the exact same game but we are incorporating a local golfer who golfed in it in the very beginning 50 years ago.”
Collins is referring to Nita Lane, who won the gross trophy for lowest overall score in the tournament a whopping 17 times.
“We are playing for two trophies. The first one is low net and it’s the Barb Smith/Marj Jefferson low net, and the other one is the Nita Lane low gross,” Collins says.
Lane was there to hand out the trophy bearing her name.
In addition to golf, the women played fun games like Smash the Glass and participated in a 50/50 draw.
Funds from the takings went to Quesnel Junior Golf, Quesnel Jumpstart and Quesnel Palliative Care.
Glenda Graham and her partner Barb Arnot had an excellent day on the links.
“Barb played well on the front, and I played better on the back. So together, we did fine,” Graham says.
“The golf course is in super shape and he greens are beautiful.
“They have a very small staff here and they work so hard. We are very fortunate.”
