The Quesnel Rodeo Club (QRC) has cancelled the 2020 Quesnel Rodeo Mid Season Classic, which was scheduled for July 17-19, due to safety concerns surrounding the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

A March 31 news release from the QRC explains that while the organization is disappointed to have to cancel the event, the decision was made to keep the community safe.

“The Quesnel Rodeo Club has regrettably decided to cancel our 2020 Quesnel Rodeo,” states the release. “While this is disappointing, the health and safety of our community, rodeo audiences and contestants must be our first consideration.”

According to the release, there are no plans to reschedule the event in 2020, but the organization looks forward to hosting the rodeo in 2021.

“We look forward to hosting a great rodeo in 2021, one which celebrates our community and our great western heritage,” states the release. “We want to thank our loyal community-minded business sponsors, rodeo fans and contestants and everyone who loves the sport of rodeo for your support.”
