Quesnel Sealions excel in PG

Growing club scores 29 first place finishes

The Quesnel Sealions Summer Swim Club fared well in its first event of the season.

Twenty-one local swimmers, most of whom were competing for their first time, swam at a Tri-Meet in Prince George on May 26.

A team from Mackenzie and a team from Prince George were also racing.

Madison Lindblom, a junior member of the club, had a blast hanging out with the coaches and competing for her first time.

First year head coach Baylee McGillivray was really proud of everyone who made the trip and is excited about the new crop of young swimmers.

“This is our biggest year for having more kids in the cubs program and the junior program,” she says.

“Which is really good to see as we are losing some of our senior swimmers.”

McGillivray has been with the club since she was a junior member and credits coaching with helping find her passion.

“It made me decide that what I really want to become is an elementary school teacher,” she says.

The club competes every two weeks from May until the provincials in mid-August.
