Supporters of Quw’utsun FC weren’t sure what to think after their team’s 1-1 draw with Lakehill Hooligans on Sunday afternoon.
“We had many fans that left both disappointed and amused,” Quw’utsun head coach Peter Moses noted. “We had put the pressure on them for a majority of the game but could only muster a tie.”
Quw’utsun was easily the dominant team, generating multiple chances that somehow failed to find the net, but had to settle for a single point in the Vancouver Island Soccer League Div. 3B match.
After a scoreless first half, Devin Jack opened the scoring with a successful penalty shot in the 69th minute, only to watch Lakehill’s Simon Norgrove deliver a beautiful free kick to tie the score just two minutes later.
“Most of our shots missed the net,” Moses conceded. “But the guys are putting passes together that are ending with shots; now we just need goals.”
With one win, four draws and three losses — including points in each of their last three games — Quw’utsun sits third in Div. 3B and will play host to Sooke’s Fred Milne Park Rangers FC this coming Sunday at 2 p.m.
