More than 250 riders are expected to compete for valuable rider points as the Vernon BMX Club hosts a leg of the ABA Provincial Series Sunday morning at Ranger Park.
It is one of four ABA provincials in the Okanagan this weekend, with Saturday events being held in Penticton and Kelowna, and a Sunday afternoon competition in Kamloops.
Registration is from 9-10 a.m., with racing to follow shortly after, with riders competing in three categories – Novice, Intermediate and Expert.
The event will also include half-track races, allowing the sport’s newest and youngest riders a chance to win a medal.
The club welcomes spectators free of charge. Parking at Ranger Park is limited, so the club has organized additional parking at the city works yard on 48th Avenue, and at the Seventh-day Adventist Church at the corner of Pleasant Valley Road and 45th Avenue. Both are a short walk to the track.
