The Terrace Drag Race Association continues its season opener with day two of races today.

Anyone and everyone is invited to come and watch the event, which costs $10 at the gates and is taking place at the Northwest Regional Airport.

The Association’s Chris Colborne said drag racing event is fun for everyone, including car enthusiasts and people new to the sport.

“We are all about going fast and having fun, but there is a lot more to it,” he said.

Colborne explained that all types of vehicles are raced, with everything from vans and trucks to modified snowmobiles hitting the track.

“It’s so entertaining,” he said.

According to Colborne, the association has created a new class specifically designed for everyday drivers – called the sportsman class. There is also a junior’s category where drivers as young as nine years old race in vehicles that have been specially modified for safety.

Time trails will begin at 10 a.m. and races will start up between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.

There will be bleachers available for spectators but people are also encouraged to bring their own chairs.
