In what has to be one of the best starts to a season for a club in these parts, Parksville’s U16 Rage Girls garnered gold last weekend at a Langford tournament.

According to Sheryl McNichol, the local squad won all of their round robin games then thumped Richmond in the final.

Parksville was trailing 2-0 she said until the top of the third inning when they tied it 2-2, but Richmond answered with two more in the bottom of the frame for a 4-2 lead heading into the fourth.

The Rage answered back with their bats again and brought five across in the top of the fourth to take a 7-4 lead, then lit it up for another four runs in the sixth to go up 11-4 and manufacture the mercy win.

It was the third straight tournament, and third different age group of Parksville Rage fast pitch team to have medaled in the past three weeks. The U14 and U12 Rage Girls teams both earned silver medals at their first tourney’s of the year.
