The V.I. Raiders survived main camp and have positioned themselves for the start of the season.
Nanaimo’s Canadian Junior Football League team held its five-day camp at Port Alberni’s Bob Dailey Stadium from Thursday through Monday.
On Sunday afternoon the Raiders played a high-energy intrasquad game. Receiver Whitman Tomusiak made two touchdown catches, Dustin Rodriguez scored on a long catch-and-run play and Dustin Pedersen also scored a TD on a difficult catch down the sideline. Linebacker Glenn Boyce had back-to-back sacks on one defensive stand and defensive back Alex Shackleton had an interception return for a touchdown.
The Raiders kick off the season with a road game Saturday (Aug. 4) against Victoria’s Westshore Rebels. For a full story on the Raiders’ main camp, please click here.
