Junior Raider teams travelled to Ladysmith on Friday to take on the Steelers.
The peewees started out strong with a 30-yard run by Milo Junnola to score the first touchdown, and a second not long after by Jonathan Kim. Josh Stanyar powered the ball in a few different plays.
The Steelers had a strong second half to win the game, but not without a fight from the hard-hitting defensive line led by Javin Pay-Kearns, Bryce Parker, and with a noteworthy sac by Robert Campbell.
The junior bantams followed in their toughest game of the season. The tone of the game was set by David Chincoya Martinez’s 45-yard run up the field for an impressive gain.
The defensive line had their work cut out for them against some relentless aggression with Caleb Coyle and Jacob Hall having some excellent plays.
The Steelers won, but with the help of Parker Smith’s Raider spirit and sportsmanship, motivation stayed high on the field.
Both teams are back on the field for their last home game of the season Oct. 13. Be there for their noon kickoff.
